Tips for driving school students from traffic officials
DOHA: Driving school students will soon get tips from traffic officials on road safety and rules.
Officers from various sections of the Traffic Department are expected to visit all driving schools to directly communicate with trainees, a senior official of a driving school disclosed yesterday.
The proposal was discussed in a recent workshop for driving school representatives held by the department.
It focused on the role of driving schools in reducing accidents and sought participants’ views and suggestions.
“We have an agreement with the department to implement the decision,” said the official.
The idea is to involve various segments of the department in raising traffic safety awareness among new drivers. For instance, officers investigating accidents will highlight major causes of accidents and how they can be prevented. Others from the department will talk about traffic rules, violations and punishments.
Meanwhile, the department has come out with innovative programmes for the 31st GCC Traffic Week that will begin at Darb Al Saee celebration ground in Al Sadd on March 14.
Visitors will get free driving lessons and will be able to participate in competitions and other fun-filled activities, with chances to win attractive prizes.
